We can winSeptember 25, 2013
I wanted to give you a pretty important update on marriage equality in Hawaii.
Our team has spent the week meeting with lawmakers in both the House and Senate and here’s what I can tell you: several key lawmakers still haven’t decided how they’ll vote in special session once it begins onOctober 28. They’re under a lot of pressure from our opponents — and if we don’t do everything we can to win their vote, they might vote no.
If we’re going to win their votes, and build on the momentum we’ve created over the past month, this campaign needs to be as strong as it can possibly be. That’s all there is to it.
That’s why today, we’re launching the Special Session Fund — to ensure we have the resources we need to win.
Pitch in now to help us meet our goal of $10,000 to win marriage equality in special session! If you give before October 2nd, the Japanese American Citizens League of Honolulu will double your donation, dollar-for-dollar.
If you need proof that the people of Hawaii are ready for marriage equality, look no further than our campaign offices around the state. Since Governor Abercrombie called special session, our offices have been packed full with volunteers every single day.
They’re out knocking on doors, making thousands of phone calls, and asking their neighbors to join this campaign — all with a laser-like focus on passing marriage in next month’s special session. That’s the work that will propel us to a historic victory for marriage equality. And that’s exactly the work our Special Session Fund will fuel.
By chipping in today, you’ll help put our team on the ground in communities across the state for the next 32 days. You’ll help us knock on more doors, train more volunteers and reach more supporters so we can make the strongest possible case we can make to undecided lawmakers.
If you give to the Special Session fund today, you’ll help pass marriage equality and fulfill the spirit of Aloha for all ohana.
The clock is ticking. Mahalo for all you’re doing.
