It’s Happening TomorrowJune 25, 2013
The waiting will end tomorrow. On Wednesday, June 26, at 10:00 Eastern Time, the Supreme Court will issue decisions on the so-called Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and Proposition 8 (Prop 8).
In just a matter of hours, we’ll know the fate of DOMA, the policy that forces the federal government to discriminate against legally married same-sex couples, and Prop 8, California’s ban on marriage for gay couples.
But we can’t lose sight of the reality right here in Hawaii. No matter how the Supreme Court rules, it’s up to our lawmakers to pass marriage equality.
Spread the word that Hawaii needs the freedom to marry, regardless of the Supreme Court outcome. Click here to share our graphic on Facebook now.
There’s no doubt once the rulings are issued, it will be a day for the history books. But we have to make it clear to Hawaii legislators that our fight for the freedom to marry at home still continues.
Stay tuned — and we’ll be sure to let you know exactly how the eventual rulings will impact Hawaii.
